Passionate Organizing
How “Philly Organizes “ came to be:
One of my God-given blessings that I have been given is the ability to see need and couple it with resources. I am constantly organizing things in my head. The areas I am passionate about are helping those in need, the poor, the lonely, and the challenged. It is this population I feel a part of. Yet, God has additionally blessed me abundantly in many areas so I am really not poor, challenged or lonely. I am vibrant, God fearing, humorous, energetic , I have travelled extnsively , I am educated, I have two loving parents who are still married, I have a beautiful daughter and step-daughter both of whom amaze me( it’s very challenging having 2 kids smarter than you!) and even a good looking, hard working, great Dad of an ex-husband. I have two loving and very talented sisters and a WEALTH OF PEOPLE WHO LOVE ME. The list is many and the distance is great. You all know who you are. May I take the time to thank you all!
My other passion is marketing. Having worked as a Regional Sales Manager travelling the Eastern seaboard I have had much experience developing marketing strategies with a large distribution network. I naturally see market opportunities and missed opportunities. I did learn from that experience that I was talented at being on the go, living out of hotels, or with my car as my office. I liked building displays and working on my feet using my hands. I’d rather scrub toilets than sit in a suit around a conference table hashing out a deal.
Now I’m not opposed to coordinating efforts and delivering a Win Win deal. This is where my passions comes together. Taking my marketing skills and win win attitude to help someone in need is where I love to be. As a new single mom, I can identify with a common issue my clients face—a large life transition in hard economic times. I have learned about faith- knowing that God will provide when we can’t see what’s ahead. God has and continues to bless and provide for me. I love to share my blessings and experience to lift others up. What a joy it is to do that. All of this has come together for me with “Philly Organizes”.
I had a lot of this stuff in my head coupled with wanting to work with my hands, build shelves, clean, organize etc. I remember organizing as far back as grade school. It’s amazing what a good feeling even just a simple organizing project will bring, a sense of accomplishment, a sense of control and that all is well.
I will never forget the day I saw Holly Robinson’s van of “I Organize 4 U” with her logo on it. I didn’t catch her until months later but that was the first day I realized that there was actually a job I could do that could put what was in my mind to work. Later I saw her pulling out of the church parking lot and I ran to flag her down. It was then I met my first mentor in the organizing world. She suggested I go to Clear and Simple to be trained and I did. I flew off to Utah to meet mentor number two, Marla Dee owner of Clear and Simple. I came back and Holly continued to show me the way and educate me as best she could. After a recent presentation, I realized she had taken me to work at four hoarders houses and I laugh about that but I would like to think I was able to uplift her on some challenging jobs. We have continued to try to work together yet remain separate companies. Like me, Holly has her own God-given callings. It is confusing to many as people here in town. Most aren’t quite sure why sometimes I have her red shirt on and then see me in my pink shirt. She got me started as a Clever Container Consultant so we continue to work together. Holly is an amazing woman. She sets the benchmark high and I admire her tenacity and work ethic. I will always learn from her. So with that said, I will let you know right now I don’t think I will ever master the art of blogging as she has. Actually don’t be surprised if you don’t get another blog from me. Thanks Holly and to all who have supported me during my time of transition.
